Plagiarism Policy

The International Linguistics and TESOL Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. We consider plagiarism a serious offense and have established the following policy to address instances of plagiarism in submitted manuscripts.

Plagiarism involves the use or close imitation of the language, thoughts, or ideas of another author and presenting them as one's own original work without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct copying of text from other sources without quotation marks and proper citation.

  • Paraphrasing substantial portions of another's work without acknowledgment.

  • Reusing one's own previously published work without citation (self-plagiarism).

Plagiarism Detection

All manuscripts submitted to the International Linguistics and TESOL Journal are subject to plagiarism screening using reliable plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts found to have a similarity index exceeding 20% will be returned to the authors for revision. Authors are expected to revise the manuscript to reduce similarity and ensure proper citation of sources.

Levels of Plagiarism and Consequences

  • Minor Plagiarism: Involves small sections of text copied without proper citation.
    Action: Authors will be notified and requested to revise the manuscript to include proper citations.

  • Moderate Plagiarism: Involves significant portions of text or ideas copied without acknowledgment.
    Action: The manuscript will be rejected, and the authors will be informed of the reason.

  • Severe Plagiarism: Involves extensive copying of text, data, or ideas, including self-plagiarism.
    Action: The manuscript will be rejected, and the authors will be barred from submitting to the journal for a period of two years.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and for properly citing all sources. By submitting a manuscript, authors affirm that the work is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration by another publication.
