Abstract

This research is motivated by the low effectiveness of the learning model applied by teachers in schools and the lack of motivation for students' interest in learning. The Project Based Learning (PjBL) model was chosen as an alternative approach that is expected to increase learning effectiveness and encourage students' interest in learning. This study aims to describe the effectiveness and influence of the PjBL model on the learning interest of class X OTKP students at SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli. The method used is qualitative descriptive with an inductive approach. Data collection techniques include observation, focus group interviews (FGDs), and documentation studies. The results showed that the application of the PjBL model proved effective, with an observation score of 86.3 indicating the "effective" category. In addition, the use of this model is also able to foster students' interest in learning, as seen from the results of the FGD which indicates that there are at least two to four indicators of learning interest in students.
