Focus and Scope

"Applied English Linguistics and Education" is a journal that provides a forum for publishing research articles, review articles, and short communications in the fields of applied linguistics and English education. This journal aims to bridge the gap between linguistic theory and educational practice, with a special focus on the role of English in academic and real-world contexts. The scope of the journal includes but is not limited to the following areas:

Language acquisition and learning theories in English education

English as a Second or Foreign Language (ESL/EFL) teaching and learning

Curriculum and materials development for English instruction

Language assessment and testing

Sociolinguistics and its application in education

Pragmatics and discourse analysis in classroom contexts

This journal is committed to advancing scholarly understanding and innovative practices in applied English linguistics and education through empirical and theoretical contributions.

Peer Review Process

Applied English Linguistics and Education is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research in the fields of English linguistics and education. Manuscripts submitted to this journal will be evaluated by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The editorial board will make the final decision to accept or reject submissions based on the reviewers’ recommendations and comments.

This journal follows a double-blind peer review process to ensure impartiality, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review. The editors may request authors to revise their manuscripts according to reviewers’ feedback before final acceptance. Additionally, the editorial team reserves the right to recommend professional proofreading for manuscripts that require language polishing, and may reject manuscripts if authors do not comply with these suggestions.

The official language of publication for Applied English Linguistics and Education is English.

Journal of Applied English Linguistics and Education provides immediate open access to its content based on the principle that making research freely accessible to educators, researchers, and the public promotes a wider and more inclusive global exchange of knowledge in the fields of English linguistics and education.

Applied English Linguistics and Education is a peer-reviewed journal published by Publication Centre – Bali Business School. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the chief editor, the editorial board, the peer reviewer, and the publisher. This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It reflects the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Therefore, it is important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher, and the society.

Publication Centre – Bali Business School as the publisher of Applied English Linguistics and Education takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing seriously and recognizes its ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. In addition, the Editorial Board of Applied English Linguistics and Education will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful and necessary.

Publication Decisions

The editor of Applied English Linguistics and Education is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. Editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by legal requirements such as libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and may also assist the author in improving the paper through editorial communications.

Promptness

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the manuscript or cannot do so promptly should notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively and observations should be clearly formulated with supporting arguments. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work not cited by the authors. Any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript and any other published paper should be reported to the editor.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal gain. Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors must present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are unethical and unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide raw data and should be prepared to make such data publicly available and retain it for a reasonable time after publication.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Where the work and/or words of others are used, they must be appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. This constitutes unethical publishing behavior.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others and cite influential publications.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All such contributors should be listed as co-authors.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects

If the research involves hazardous chemicals, procedures, or equipment, authors must clearly identify these in the manuscript.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence their manuscript. All sources of financial support should be disclosed.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate in retracting or correcting the paper.

Publication Charge

There is no publication fee for articles published in the Applied English Linguistics and Education journal. All accepted papers are published free of charge.

Open Access Statement

Applied English Linguistics and Education is an open access journal, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

Plagiarism Policy

Applied English Linguistics and Education upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and intellectual property rights. We are committed to protecting and promoting the originality of our authors’ work. Any manuscripts containing plagiarized content are strictly prohibited as they undermine the quality and credibility of scholarly research. Therefore, all authors submitting their manuscripts to Applied English Linguistics and Education are required to adhere to ethical research practices and refrain from any form of plagiarism. Every submission will undergo an initial screening and will be rigorously checked using advanced plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin) to ensure originality and proper citation.
